Maxime Ros:
– Welcome to Revinsight, the podcast that helps you understand how organizations and individuals adopt, utilize and track VR results.
– Today, I’m delighted to receive Julie Bernard. Julie is a Global Medical Education and Content Development Director for Orthopedics Division at Smith & Nephew (FR).
– Hey, Julie, how and why did you first turn to VR in your professional environment?
Julie Bernard:
– We at Smith & Nephew started to look at VR and invested in it approximately six years ago in the US. And at that time, we were using it more for marketing purposes during conferences, for example.
– And in 2019, a new Global Medical Education leader came on board with a strong vision around simulation.
– And today, we are positioning VR as a complementary tool within our 360 learning ecosystem for our customers.
– There are lots of evidence showing that immersive 3D experience improves retention and is beneficial to learn new procedures.
– And so with VR, you can visualize, for example, a surgical procedure from the eyes of an expert and have the feeling that you are the expert, and this is your patient.
– And it’s very powerful and is proven to be more effective than other traditional learning methods.
